Indian Overseas Bank (IOB), a leading Public Sector Bank with headquarters in Chennai, has released the detailed notification for recruitment of Security Guards from eligible Ex-Servicemen/ Ex-Agniveers for appointment in Chennai/ Tamil Nadu. A total of 25 vacancies are to be filled under Advertisement No. HRMD/SS/RECT/01/2026-27, offering a great opportunity for eligible Ex-Servicemen and Ex-Agniveers.

• Who Can Apply: Only eligible Ex-Servicemen / Ex-Agniveers (excluding disabled Ex-Servicemen).
• Educational Qualification: A pass in 10th standard (Matriculation) or its equivalent examination. The candidate should not have passed Graduation examination or its equivalent. The candidate should be able to speak, read and write in Tamil language.
• Age Limit (as on 01.08.2026): Minimum 18 years and Maximum 26 years.
• Age Relaxation for Ex-Servicemen:
  • General: 26 Years + Actual period of service rendered in the defence forces + 3 Years (Maximum 45 Years)
  • SC/ST: 31 Years + Actual period of service + 3 Years (Maximum 45 Years)
  • OBC: 29 Years + Actual period of service + 3 Years (Maximum 45 Years)
  • Agniveer: 21 Years + Actual Period of service as Agniveer + 3 Years

Pay Scale (Subordinate Staff Cadre as per 12th Bipartite Settlement): ₹19,500 – 665/4 – 22,160 – 830/5 – 26,310 – 990/4 – 30,270 – 1,170/3 – 33,780 – 1,345/3 – 37,815

Basic pay will be fixed based on the last drawn salary during defence service. In addition, selected candidates are entitled to emoluments as per the Industry-wide Bipartite Settlement and Bank policies/rules.

Note: Pre-Examination Training will be arranged free of cost for SC/ST/Minority Communities/Ex-Servicemen candidates at Chennai (travelling, boarding & lodging expenses to be borne by candidates).

Eligible candidates must apply ONLINE ONLY through the official IOB website / IBPS registration portal. No other mode of application will be accepted.

➢ Step 1: Visit the official website www.iob.bank.in and go to the “Careers” page. Click on the link “Recruitment of Security Guards” and then “Apply Online”.

➢ Step 2: Click on “Click here to Register Online” and complete the registration process. Note down the Registration Number and Password (also sent via Email/SMS).

➢ Step 3: Login and fill the online application form carefully with all required personal, educational and service details.

➢ Step 4: Upload Photograph, Signature, Left Thumb Impression and Handwritten Declaration as per the prescribed specifications. Capture live photo in the portal.

➢ Step 5: Submit the application by clicking “COMPLETE REGISTRATION” and take a printout of the system-generated application form for future reference.

A total of 25 Security Guard posts (SC-4, ST-0, OBC-7, EWS-2, GEN-12) are available exclusively for Ex-Servicemen/Ex-Agniveers in Chennai/Tamil Nadu.

The last date to submit the online application is 14 September 2026.

Candidates must be between 18 to 26 years of age as on 01.08.2026. Ex-Servicemen get relaxation of actual service period + 3 years (subject to maximum 45 years).

10th standard (Matriculation) pass or equivalent (candidates should not have passed Graduation) + ability to speak, read and write in Tamil language.

Online Objective Type Test (80 marks) → Local Language Test (Tamil) → Physical Fitness Test.

There is no application fee for any category.
