Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has issued Advertisement No. 14/2026 for the Teacher Recruitment Examination 4.0 (TRE-4.0), opening applications for 32,388 School Teacher positions under the Education Department of the Government of Bihar. Online registration and fee payment start on 01 September 2026, with the final submission deadline set for 30 September 2026.

(A) Primary School (Class 1–5) – 3,847 Posts

(B) Middle School (Class 6–8) – 8,563 Posts

(C) Secondary School (Class 9–10) – 3,877 Posts

Category-wise Summary (All Levels): Detailed UR, EWS, BC, EBC, SC, ST and horizontal reservations (including women, PwD, Freedom Fighter descendants and Transgender) are provided in the official notification. Vacancies are subject to revision by the Education Department.

• Nationality: Must be a citizen of India.
• Educational & Training Qualification: As prescribed by NCTE for the respective school level. Special school teachers require RCI-recognised qualification.
• TET Requirement:
  • Primary (1–5): CTET Paper-I or BTET Paper-I
  • Middle (6–8): CTET Paper-II or BTET Paper-II
  • Secondary (9–10) & Special: STET Paper-I
  • Higher Secondary (11–12): STET Paper-II
• Teachers appointed before 2012 who cleared Dakshata Pariksha are exempt. Candidates appearing in STET 2026 may apply provisionally but must qualify before the Preliminary Exam.
• Qualification Snapshot:
  • Primary: Senior Secondary + 2-year D.El.Ed / 4-year B.El.Ed or Graduation + D.El.Ed (as per NCTE).
  • Middle: Graduation + D.El.Ed / B.Ed or 4-year integrated B.A./B.Sc.Ed with subject combination.
  • Secondary: Graduation/Post-Graduation (relevant subject, min 50%) + B.Ed.
  • Higher Secondary: Post-Graduation (relevant subject, min 50%) + B.Ed.

Candidates must carefully verify subject-specific combinations and additional pathways (Computer Science, Physical Education, languages, Madrasa Board) in Sections 2(A)–2(R) of the notification.

• Minimum Age (as on 01.08.2026): 18 years (Primary & Middle) | 21 years (Secondary & Higher Secondary)
• Maximum Age (as on 01.08.2024):
  • Unreserved Male: 37 years
  • Unreserved Female / BC / EBC: 40 years
  • SC / ST / Transgender: 42 years
• Relaxations: PwD – 10 years; Ex-servicemen – 3 years + service period (max age 57); Serving Bihar Govt employees – 5 years (max 5 attempts under this relaxation).

Posts fall under non-gazetted School Teacher cadre.

• Stage 1 – Preliminary Examination: Objective General Studies paper (150 marks, 2 hours). 5-option format with 1/3 negative marking for wrong or unanswered questions (except option E). Qualifying marks: General 40%, BC 36.5%, EBC 34%, SC/ST/Women/PwD 32%. Shortlisting ratio: 2.5 to 10 times vacancies.
• Stage 2 – Main Examination: Objective papers (150 marks each, 2 hours) specific to school level. Part I (Language) is qualifying (min 30%). Merit based on Part II (Primary) or Part II + Part III (other levels). Same negative marking and qualifying criteria apply. No re-evaluation.

Guest teachers (Atithi Shikshak) receive service weightage of 5 marks per year (max 25 marks) added to qualifying scores.

Eligible candidates must apply ONLINE ONLY through the official BPSC OTR portal. No other mode is accepted.

➢ Step 1: Visit https://bpsconline.bihar.gov.in and complete One Time Registration (OTR) using a valid email and mobile number.

➢ Step 2: Link DigiLocker (Meri Pehchan) for document consent or proceed via browser.

➢ Step 3: Log in and complete the six-step profile (Personal, Address, Other, Qualification, Experience, Photo/Signature). Upload live webcam photo and Hindi + English signatures.

➢ Step 4: Lock the profile after review.

➢ Step 5: Select Advertisement No. 14/2026, choose post/subject and up to 38 preferred districts in priority order.

➢ Step 6: Pay the application fee online via SBI gateway and submit the form.

➢ Step 7: Download and print the confirmed application form for records.

Note: Post/subject cannot be changed after fee payment. Maximum 5 attempts allowed under the relevant rules. Reservation benefits apply only to Bihar domicile candidates.

A total of 32,388 School Teacher posts are available across Primary (3,847), Middle (8,563), Secondary (3,877) and Higher Secondary (16,101) levels.

The last date for online application is 30 September 2026. Fee payment closes on 29 September 2026.

Minimum 18 years (Primary/Middle) or 21 years (Secondary/Higher Secondary) as on 01.08.2026. Maximum age ranges from 37 to 42 years depending on category, with applicable relaxations.

NCTE-prescribed qualifications (D.El.Ed / B.Ed / Graduation / Post-Graduation with subject combination) plus the relevant TET (CTET/BTET/STET) for the school level applied for.

Preliminary Examination followed by Main Examination. Final merit is based on Main Exam marks only. There is no interview.

Starting pay ranges from ₹25,000 (Primary) to ₹32,000 (Higher Secondary) per month plus admissible allowances.
